Authorization Disclosure Notice – Affordability Calculator

As part of your tuition assessment, you will have the option to authorize the secure release of certain tax return information from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This process is facilitated through our trusted third-party partner, TaxStatus™.

Why This Is Required

To help you understand how tuition may affect your household finances, the calculator—powered by TaxStatus™—securely retrieves the necessary IRS data with your explicit authorization.

Who Is TaxStatus™?

TaxStatus™ is an independent service provider authorized to request your IRS tax return information with your consent. While not affiliated with the IRS, they are approved to securely transmit your data. VenturEd partners with TaxStatus™ to provide this service through a secure, embedded interface.

What You’ll Be Asked to Do

Through the TaxStatus™ platform, you’ll be guided step-by-step through a secure process to review and authorize the release of your IRS tax return information. As part of this process, you’ll be asked to electronically sign your consent for the specified tax years and confirm final approval on the IRS.gov website.

What Information Will Be Accessed

With your permission, TaxStatus™ will request specific IRS records (e.g., tax transcripts) to verify your income and determine tuition affordability. Only the minimum information necessary will be requested. Aggregated and anonymized data may be used for reporting and improvement of the tool, in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

Your Privacy and Security

Your information is protected under applicable state and federal privacy laws including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Internal Revenue Code. TaxStatus™ uses secure encryption and strict data handling practices. You can review the TaxStatus™ privacy policy at their website. VenturEd does not receive or retain your personal financial data.

User Data Use

In addition, user data may be used as follows:

  1. – User data may be used to send parents direct marketing communications (such as promotional emails), subject to applicable laws and with the option to opt out at any time.
  2. – User data may be used in anonymized, aggregated form for reporting, such as white papers, research, and presentations, provided that no personally identifiable information is disclosed.
  3. – User data may be de-identified or anonymized and shared with third parties (including schools, associations, and vendors), provided such data cannot reasonably be used to identify an individual user.

Your Rights

  • – Your participation is voluntary.
  • – You may decline to proceed, but doing so may limit our ability to process your tuition assistance estimate.
  • – You may revoke your consent before submitting the authorization.

VenturEd provides TaxStatus™ with certain data necessary to calculate your financial aid estimate. However, VenturEd does not collect, review, store, or verify any of the financial information you may enter through the calculator powered by TaxStatus™, nor does it participate in the calculation or interpretation of the results. All figures generated by the TaxStatus™ calculator are for informational purposes only and are based solely on the data you choose to submit. In addition, users are advised that their data may be used for direct marketing communications (with an opt-out option, as described in our Privacy Policy by contacting Compliance), anonymized aggregated reporting, and deidentified sharing with third parties such as schools, associations, and vendors.
